The manager of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, has explained why the team decided against signing Victor Osimhen in the previous summer.
After an outstanding season for Napoli last summer, Osimhen was linked to several elite clubs in Europe.
The striker helped the Partenopei win the Scudetto by scoring 26 goals in 32 games.
Karim Benzema, Real Madrid’s go-to forward, departed the team to join Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
Jude Bellingham’s acquisition, according to Ancelotti, made up for Benzema’s departure.
Speaking on Radio Serie A, the Italian said, “No (we didn’t sign Osimhen) because I think the club thought that Benzema’s absence could be remedied by purchasing (Jude) Bellingham.”
